Got a monitor from my friend - HP ZR30w.
I have a T60P with a thinkpad replicator port.
I have a T60P T7600 with FireGL V5250.
Can't seem to get the monitor working properly.
Is it simply because there is no way to hook up this monitor with this laptop? Thanks.

Zaz. Thank you for the link.
I did buy the mini dock and found that the T60 would only show the monitor at a lower resolution. I guess I need to buy the advanced dock so that I can buy a graphic card that would be compatible to both my computer and monitor. I was wondering buy chance if you know of any graphic cards that would fit me perfectly. (in the link they did mention a graphic card but that was 2007... can you bring me up to date? thanks!)

There is conflicting information... Some sources say that the DVI out on the docks is dual-link, others say it isn't.
Are you sure your DVI cable is dual-link?

Hello Dr.
Frankly I'm not a computer expert and don't quite know the differences maybe that one is active and the other is passive but I found a link
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail. ... MIGR-72148
The D connector on my monitor doesn't have the middle pins but the mini port does...
I'm beginning to think I should just drop the T60p and go get an elitebook or maybe a precision.

That may or may not solve your problem. That monitor requires a dual link DVI connector which obviously will require a device that is capable of supporting dual link AND have the graphics processing power to run such a monitor. Newer Thinkpads, Elitebooks and Dells are capable and would be better "balanced" for this monitor. Elitebooks and Dells of the same generation (hence $$) as your still very capable T60p will have the same issues as your T60p.
Frankly, a still available as new, $1,200 US high end panel driven by a $150 laptop (current used prices) that is at least 5 years old is very unbalanced. Wrong tool for the job. I have about 12 Thinkpads and 2 Elitebooks and would not use any of my laptops to drive my 27" IPS panels. Just doesn't make sense. That's what my desktop machines are designed for and excel at. After all it's not like my 27" monitor is remotely considered portable. Anyhow just my $0.02

Cigarguy,
I think you hit the right buttons in my head to just go out and get a desktop - now which desktop I don't know yet... You see my friend just gave me one cuz he had 2 of them and I wasn't expecting this monitor to be a great one.
Thanks for your 2 cents it may make me more poor by a couple of hundred bucks..
Take care.
