Windows 8 on T60P

I downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade assistant, clicked on it and nothing happens.
I did the selective start with msconfig, disabled the Symantec Antivirus and still no luck.
The HDD is 100 gb but my C drive partition 19.8 gb is that why maybe?
Any help will be much appreciated.

I cannot give any solution to your problems. I can say however, that two weeks ago I upgraded a Win7 T60p to Win8 pro without any problems, it is working like a dream for my grandchild.

Might be...but I suspect the installer would have to start before it could determine whether there is enough disk space or not. So since "nothing happens"...I suspect an incomplete or otherwise faulty download, but I've not yet tried an upgrade, so what do I know?

Thanks for replies, much appreciated.
The problem was because of some unnecessary services I had disabled or set to start on manual.
First I backed up all the services as they were by exporting [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services] for good safety measure.
And then I downloaded and installed the reg file for default XP services from
Code: Select all
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Services Registry Files - Black Viper
Restarted the machine and it worked, anyways it wasn't worth because the 39.99 upgrade special is over and the upgrade was 119.99.
I'll probably buy a new Thinkpad that comes with Windows 8, any suggestions for a traditional non Lenovo designed and engineered one.
Best regards to all.
