Hi

Last browse the internet in order to purchase the controller SATA II / III

I would like to connect my T60p small SSD

But at the same time be able to retain i wold be connected my old 640GB SATA drive

and DVD/CD drive to behavior (Im not want to use ulrtabay etc.)

... So the choice fell on the SATA controller mPCIE

I'll be able to connect two additional drives.

The question whether the connectors in the T60 model 2007 offers connection of such a controller and if it will work I`m find something like this:

The mini-PCIe slots are there alright, but:

(a) not sure it will be bootable
(b) where would you physically put the drive(s)?
(c) there may be some whitelisting issues
(d) not sure if the second miniPCIe on these models (the WWAN one) is a full-fledged PCIe, or USB only

The disk is connected to a slot near the CPU mPCIE

There is no PCI-e lines connected top WWAN mini PCI-e slot (near CPU) on T60.
But on T61 have 2 (or even 3;) fully usable mini PCIe slots. I have started (as a test) my T61 with 2 WLAN cards and it works;)

T60 and T61 can't use mSATA SSD in their mini PCI-e slots.
There is no room for the smallest 1.8" hdd|sdd near CPU.

I think you can search for ExpressCard eSATA adapter and use external disk, or search for ExpressCard SD card reader and ultra speed SD HC | SD XC.

Other thing. There is a miniPCI-e microSD cardreaders (card holders). But they use USB 2.0 and not so fast as ExpressCard.

Some time ago i tried to solder second (or 3nd) SATA port out of the south bridge (on T60). But no luck. They soldered 2 (of 4) pins to ground on each SATA port. And other pins are hardly accessible.

The T60/p only has one true mPCIe slot, which is usually occupied by the WLAN card. The second slot for WWAN does not have PCIe lanes connected, only USB lanes. So, theoretically what you want to do might be possible if you are willing to sacrifice the WLAN card.

However, mPCIe SATA controllers don't seem to have good compatibility with ThinkPads. See here and here: another member is trying to do pretty much the same thing in a X61, and found that controller cards either don't work or prevent the computer from booting. Booting from a drive connected to the SATA controller is out of the question altogether.

I am an electronics engineer by education Uniwesytet school, so I can devote my motherboard for testing

.. that is, the signal path is lead into the second connector MPCI

... the second option directly inferred from the signal lines SATA bridge chip
