Hi guys, I wanted to restore my T60 to the factory setting but did not make any back ups so I what I did was I got an XP CD and installed it on my T60. The problem is that after the XP installation, my computer says that my C drive is full. I tried rebooting again and tried to reinstall my XP but it won't allow me to do so saying that the C drive can't be wiped off. Is there any way I can erase my previous OS?
Thanks guy

do a custom, or advanced installation. You should see that option. From within there you can choose to format the hard drive. A google search should reveal more in depth info if you need it. I'd just try it again and hit that "Advanced" button real early on in the install, you may have to hit it again on a different screen as well

When going a clean install I always find it best to delete the part ion and create a new one. This is easly done within XP installation by clicking Advanced set up as Easy Wind described below.

Welcome to the forum!
... and please allow me to add a small hint here: Be aware that Microsoft will terminate the Extended Life Support on Windows XP (SP3) on
April 8, 2014 (see
Windows lifecycle fact sheet). This meas that if you go ahead as mentioned and install XP, then you will be "unsafe" after that date... since security issues etc. are no longer being cured, on XP.
If I were to do a new, fresh, clean installation on a T60 there's no doubt in my mind what I would do: Get me a copy of Windows 7 (quite cheap e.g. on eBay now that Win 8 has arrived), pop in a SSD in the T60 (see e.g.
Adding an SSD to a T60) and you will be
overly satisfied with your "new", life-prolonged T60!

After re-reading I have a suggestion.
If you've still got Win XP installed you can do a disk clean up and if your previous OS still has files on your hard drive there will be an option on there you can delete.
Hope this helps

Any hints there? When I have shopped Windows installation disks on ebay (XP at the time) I've been somewhat bewildered by the variety available, for instance upgrades disks, stand alone, etc. etc. I'm thinking of doing this, have had an Intel 520 120GB SSD for about a year that I haven't yet installed in this T60, which is running the original install of XP from Nov. 2006 on a 60GB HD that's pretty full. I was thinking to install XP fresh, but a lot of people are saying to move on to W7, in spite of the fact that I'll give up the convenience of being able to run a few programs (I could run them on one of my other machines which still run XP).
