Thinkpad T61 7661-12U - No Sound?

So , Windows seems to be picking up the sound card, but I'm receiving no sound through the audio port or the speakers.
I have updated the drivers and still no sound.
Anyone have any ideas?
I did confirm that it is seeing it correctly in Device Manager. I can bring up the volume bar and when I slide it, it appears to be trying to make sound.

Boot a "live" Linux CD such as Mint and check for audio there.
If you experience the exact same issue, there's a hardware problem somewhere.
If not, troubleshooting the appropriate software would be my next step.
Good luck.

FWIW:
I had the same thing on a basket case T60 I put together. Ends up it was the headphone jack and a questionable contact that connects the speakers when the headphones are unplugged.
Plugged headphones in, had sound. Unplugged them, no sound. Went monkey nuts plugging and unplugging the headphones to work the connection, and now everything works like it should.
Not saying you have the same issue, but try headphones.
