T60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
I recently upgraded my t60p to 8.1 Pro and cant figure a few things out.
1. I have no sleep option. I can only Hibernate or shut down the PC.
2. I have removed Ultra Nav in favor or older synaptics because Ultra Nav did not have the "momentum setting" that I love. How ever when i start the PC back up it seems to remove what I had and re-install Ultra Nav. Id like to be able ot stop that.
3. I often have WiFi issues when I first boot up the PC and have to restart it the computer in order to try and get wifi working. It sees my network but wont connect to it or any other network.
I came from Win 7 Ultimate and had no issues.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
This sounds like a graphics driver problem. What driver is currently installed?MikesChevelle wrote:I recently upgraded my t60p to 8.1 Pro and cant figure a few things out.

A lot of older Intel cards (3945ABG, 4965AG/N) aren't officially supported in W8/8.1 and are likely to misbehave. What wireless card does your T60p have?3. I'm not surprised, since W7 plays very well with this generation of ThinkPads...and I'll keep my opinion on W8 to myself this time around...I came from Win 7 Ultimate and had no issues.

Does this answer the questions you asked?
I do miss the fluidity of Win7 but 8 seems to take up less RAM for me and runs smooth as well. Just wish i could work out all the bugs

Re: t60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
You are running a generic graphic driver, which is likely the cause for the issues that we were discussing.
You need to install this one in the compatibility mode:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... d179ww.exe
As for the wireless card, I'd just swap it for a newer one. Your options will depend on the fact whether you're up to flashing a modded BIOS or not.

Re: T60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
I had the same bad experience in my 4 T60's, 3 of them had the notorious Intel 3945abg wireless card. Could not make those function properly under Win 8.1.
I bought ATI wireless cards on Ebay and changed them - takes 5 mins. All T60's are now working fine.

I too have had issues since moving one of the T60p machines to 8.1; when switching networks, such as when visiting a coffee shop or returning home, I often have to disable/enable the NIC to successfully connect. It didn't dawn on me that this could be an issue with the Intel card.
Can you give an example of the replacement card you purchased, Hans-Henrik?

Many thanks for the link - I've just ordered one from the US eBay, for a whopping $2.32 (1.69 Euros). It will make using 8.1 somewhat smoother.hhmcsv wrote:Yes, on Ebay

Re: T60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
any thoughts why the driver wont install for the display?
Re: T60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
My T61 frankenpad has the same WiFi-trouble with no connection every second or third day after hibernation during the night.
The Intel 6200 AGN worked fine in Win 8 for nearly a year, but started to trouble after I updated OS from 8 to 8.1.

Re: T60p Win 8.1 Pro issues
Well I feel stupid, turn off automatic updates wahlah. No more mouse issues.
Just ordered a new wifi card so that will fix that.
Now if I can just figure out this lack of "sleep" option
