T60 does not want to take automatic system updates
T60 does not want to take automatic system updates
It was missing .net framework 2.0 and I installed but still fighting me. I tried the auto fix it tool but no luck. Any easy ideas out there. Running Xp at SP3
Re: T60 does not want to take automatic system updates
What exactly is the problem? What error messages (if any) do you get? Does the application launch? Where does it fail? And any other info you can provide will be most helpful.

Re: T60 does not want to take automatic system updates
Neil, going to give it another try today if I get the time but let me give you some information. If I go to windows update from the start menu it opens IE and all seems normal, it get to the screen that says Express and Custom (I think) and I click Express. It then begins to look for updates with the rolling thermometer bar and never gets past that. It just keeps searching. I did not write down the messages when I tried to "fix it" but there were registry probs and others. I'll be better later writing them down.

Oh! Windows updates...I thought we were trying to get Lenovo System Update to work.
I'm not very good with trouble shooting Windows, but you might try this: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

Lots to read here, not a new problem: From the "Broadband forum"
Stop the Windows Update service.
Delete the contents of the c:\windows\software distribution folder.
Start the Windows Update service.
Try Windows Update again.
I've found that fixes the problem 90% of the time, was the quote that went with this, I have not tried it yet.

Re: T60 does not want to take automatic system updates
Well I added a few items, 1. the lastest updates to IE8 and .Netframework 4.0 and all is well. It took a 153 updates

PS, I think all it really needed was to get IE8 up to the latest
