Welcome to thinkpads.com! Too bad it's because of that nasty fall.
I'm fairly sure your T60p motherboard was shorted out by the Mt. Dew. If water gets on a computer motherboard, and it's allowed to dry completely before any power is applied, they will usually work. But, with sugar water, even when it dries there is still enough conductive goo to short circuit several locations on the board.
It might be possible to completely dissassemble the laptop, thoroughly rinse all the components with clean, warm water, let it all dry for a few days, then reassemble and test it. It might work, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't.

Sounds like now may be the time to do so.
I've saved some electronics by making a make shift "oven". essentially it's just a big box (maybe 2 foot big) where you put all your components in. Cut a hole in the side of the box that diameter of your hairdryer . Seal the box, push the dryer in the hole, turn it on. That will evaporate the left over water.
