Indicator lights don't work

I picked up a very nice 2007-64U with a lovely SXGA+ screen. It has one problem--the indicator lights below the screen don't work. I unseated and reseated the motherboard screen connector, which did absolutely nothing.
Before I tear into the screen assembly itself, I thought I'd ask here if anyone has run into this problem and found the cause.

I removed the fascia of a defunct screen assembly and answered my own question. The indicator lamps are integral to the inverter assembly. So it's off to Flea Bay I go.

Well, I picked up a used inverter for a few bucks, installed it, and got no joy. I then got a new Chinese screen cable for 15 bucks. Voila! Problem solved. I've now got enough blinking lights to brighten any geek's day.
The cable is exactly identical to the original, appearance-wise. I just hope it holds up as well.
I might add that screen cable replacement isn't for those who're faint of heart, though I'd guess there aren't many such on this forum. In fact, I think I faintly hear Nelson Eddy singing "Stout Hearted Men" in the background.
