Problems loading windows XP

#1 Post by spacer » Sat Mar 29, 2014 2:53 pm

I have a lenova thinkpad T60 (type 2613). When I try and load windows XP, I get
this message:

Setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer.

But I can load window 7 fine on the machine. Anyone know what the
problem is? thanx

Your BIOS is probably set for AHCI...so if you change it to Compatibility mode, XP should install then.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Thank you for that info. When I enter Bios, there are these tabs:

config
date/time
startup
restart
HDD diag

Where do I go to change the bios mode?

Config>SATA mode

Once changed to "Compatibility", press F10 to save and exit.

Could be worse. On the Z61's (m,p,t) it will load correctly, then on the first run it will BSOD. REALLY annoying!

WARNING: You will need to load the Intel ACHI drivers, before you change the setting in BIOS back.
