Intel ssd and T60 question

I have an Intel 710 series 300gb ssd presently running fine in my Toshiba. I'm looking for a T60p and intend to install the ssd in it.
Anything I should know first? What should I watch out for while looking for the T60?
Is this a bad/good combo?
Thanks

Excellent combo. Got a few T60 with ssd in main drive bay loaded with OS and programs. The data is on a HDD in the Ultrabay via an adapter.
Fresh install is best. If it's Win 7 or 8 then Windows will take care of everything. Make sure AHCI data mode is set in BIOS.

XP doesn't like SSDs. Neither the installation disc nor the recovery discs will align the partition properly. You'll need a Windows 7 disc to do it right. A Vista disc will work as well.

Windows 7 and Flexview are my requirements. I will probably clone the drive since a 7 disc will not likely be included. I cloned the one in my Toshiba and it's running fine.

Use Gparted to align the partition. And acronis to install an xp image onto the drive.
I did that and have an XP SSD on my t60 running with absolutely no problems.

I wouldn't clone the drive but just move it right from Toshiba into the T60.
W7 is way more flexible in my experience than XP was, and allows being moved around far easier that previous M$ operating systems.
YMMV.

That would put all the Toshiba drivers and other Toshiba bits onto the T60. How would that work?

You can always remove the Toshiba-specific stuff later.
I don't understand what type of cloning you are intent on performing that would change that.
What am I missing here?

If you are planning to clone a Toshiba laptop to a Thinkpad, I would not recommend it. Much prefer fresh install vs cloning period. But your machine, your $$, your call. Don't be surprise or even post if all you get is a buggy system at best, random BSOD as normal and nothing as most likely.

I will clone the T60 to the ssd. Like I said, if I get a T60 with Windows7, it will not likely have the disc. I would have to buy a Windows 7 disc to do a fresh install. That goes against my skinflint nature.
Or maybe I'm missing something.

I highly doubt taking the SSD from your Toshiba and putting it into a new to you T60 will work but you never know. Good luck.

OK so you're getting a T60 with W7 pre-installed and no media?
Presuming that the install is legit, you can extract the key and download the ISO from Digital River...then do a clean install and re-use the key. Problem solved.
