I'm pondering the idea of possibly upgrading my T60 with my freshly installed screen. Any recommended t60/p upgrades to speed it up or increase processing power? (Example) If you'd leave your recommended t60/p upgrades to make the computer better!
I'm open to ANY recommendations.

Make sure they're worthy upgrades!

I have heard of the Frankenpad concept, but never really thought anything of implementing it into my t60.
Leave suggestions! Don't be shy!

I won't bite!

In order to upgrade, one needs a starting configuration in order to move to the end game. So, what's your starting configuration?
As for me, all my T60 have Flexview screens on 15" models and SXGA+ screen on 14" models. Then all machines get max RAM (3 GB), 6200N or 6300N, a SSD and at least a T7200. The only thing better is to take a 15" Flexview machine and Frankenpad it. Of these upgrades, the most important is the SXGA+ screen. The greatest improvement is the SSD.

If I remember correctly from speaking with TPFL, the machine has a t7200, sxga+ screen, and 3gb ram already. An ssd is probably the biggest jump he could make.

Other than a SSD, what would you recommend 86turbodsl for upgrades? When I spoke with you previously I have heard that you installed the Middleton BIOS on your T61/R60 hybrid. Could you give me more information?

The middleton bios is only for t61 planars. I would look at maxxing out your cpu and maybe an ssd. Not much else you can do.

A T7200/T7400/T7600 CPU makes for a high-end T60. SSD is good, but if you already have a 7200RPM drive, you should be fine if you don't wish to shell out cash for an SSD just yet. It's an upgrade that's always possible and fairly easy to make, so no reason to rush it.

@ dr_st: I have to disagree. Installing an SSD felt like getting a new computer!
I upgraded CPU, HDD/SDD and OS.
See the detailed description here (in english):

Disagree about what?
Did I ever say that SSD is not worth it? Or that it won't give any improvement?
Or are you claiming that it's actually so bad without an SSD that the guy must upgrade to it immediately?
Thank you for the link, though. It's always good to have informative guides with pictures.

Thanks
I'm just saying that for me (my own personal experience) it was a "WOW!-experience".
Much faster boot time, much faster load times. It was really a step up. But as you can see from my blogpost the T60 was not in a good state before the upgrade.
