Hello,

I wonder if it's possible to swap the 3 mouse keys from keyboard by that one from a x201 or x301 keyboard.

Please be a bit more clear in your question (!): Do you ask if it is possible to replace the three mouse-keys on a T60-keyboard with the similar keys from a x201 or from a x301 keyboard? If so, what are the specific FRU's of the keyboards we are talking about?

For the FRU i have 42T3151 for my t61 keyboard.

No answer (no one have both t61 and x201-301 to see if its possible )

So i have to buy these 3 key to test if i can swap.

Looks good. I assume this is done from pure cosmetically and not functional aspects? I can see why, as I have always seen the all-black buttons on the T60 as a cosmetically drawback compared to the T4x machines.

Wow, I had no idea this could be done reasonably. I much preferred the T40/x40 red accents on the keys to the black ones on the T60/x60 era. Are these ones swapped in from the X200/X201, or can older ones be used?

Yes, I preferred the way the red and blue buttons look like, the black ones look too dull.

I used a X200 keyboard. Depending on which manufacturer the keyboard is from the results may vary. For example, the T60 NMB keyboard would have been easier to mod because the plastic support for the keys fits better. I have Chicony which left me with no choice other than to sandpaper the plastic support and apply super glue. It is crucial to find the perfect position of the plastic support before the glue dries. Also watch out that no glue gets under or close to the buttons.

I'm not sure if you can use the T40 buttons as well, but if the plastic mount has a similar design then I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.
