I have a T60 win7 32bit, out of the blue while running both mice (trackpoint and touchpad) stopped working.
USB mouse does work.
reinstalled drivers
all fine on device manager
all fine on bios
tried running without battery (saw it somewhere) didn't work
checked for maleware and viruses.
Ideas?
Thanks

Try restoring the bios back to defaults and make sure that the touchpad and trackpoint options are enabled there. Also, can you try burning a linux distro (ex. puppy linux) to a usb drive and try booting from that? If your trackpoint and touchpad still do not work, then your keyboard might be bad.

thanks,
Yea I wanna try the linux thing but i have been looking for days and cant find my cd drive or a flash drive, will try when I do.
What do you mean resetting the bios, can you elaborate. the track point and touch pad are enabled.
Now the keyboard stopped working sometimes after a while of use. I must note that even if this were a cable failure for the keyboard, it wouldn't effect the touch pad as it is a completely different circuit. Ideas?

Wrong: both on same cable. Did you open the thing up and check that cable?

@jcvjcvjcvjcv:
YOU are wrong: trackpoint is part of the keyboard, and touchpad (with or w/o FPR) is part of the palmrest.
Touchpad and FPR are on the same cable, while the keyboard has its own cable.

When you enter the bios by pressing the F1 key (iirc), there should be an option that says "restore defaults" or to some factory setting. I doubt it will make any difference, but you never know.
If both the trackpoint and touchpad stopped working at the same time, I imagine there may be a problem with the motherboard. As before, you can try reseating the cables as well. Maybe they got loose overtime?
Best,
Brian

Woops, I am. I completely read over the touchpad part. Trackpoint and keyboard are on the same cable though.

Thanks for the help!
Problem solved by unplugging the touchpad the trackpoint now works (after reboot). Solution found here:

Now if anyone has any idea why computer selectively stopped accepting my newish 9cell battery that worked fine before and still works on my sl500 that would be just great.

Can still be related to slightly bend / dirty contacts on that one battery that in combination with slightly higher contact pressure in another laptop doesn't give a problem.
