T61 14.1 XGA seems to leak - need a replace or move forward

Dear all,
The screen on my t61 (8896W4G) seems to got experienced some physical push and now I have 2-3 lines of purple going vertically almost all the way down through the screen. It was about an inch on day one and one line only and gradually expanded on 2-3 days to 2-3 lines next to each other. Although I can't recall any physical misbehaviour that could cause this the result is that the screen needs to be changed (not fixed).
Recently I've done some upgrade on my T61 with the help of people here: ultrabay caddy, t7300 to T8300, SSD (Middleton BIOS), 4GB RAM and I begin to wonder should I go for a screen replacement or move forward and get a newer machine.
I suppose I can only get a 14.1 XGA ot SXGA+ for my machine but does it worth....I guess it does after all that recent upgrades. Any advice would be welcomed.
Cheers

It does IMO, I would go for an SXGA+ panel, you can get one from a T60 as well, or try to find a broken (but with intact screen) 14.1" 4:3 T61 like yours and swap the entire lid assembly.
Otherwise check for any of these models:
- Samsung LTN141P4-L02
- BOE-Hydis HT14P12
- TMD-Toshiba LTD141EN9B
I don't remember which was the best one, I think it was the Hydis but I'm not sure anymore...
Happy hunting!

Thank you
I found a Samsung one near by - 14.1'' SXGA+ 1400x1050 11P8348 LTN141P4-L02 but it says
IBM P/N: 93P5570
FRU P/N: 11P8348
which seems to be for T40 and T41 will that fit in mine? It may also seems that it does not have an EDID chip which might be required for my T61.
Cheers

Thanks,
How can I be sure that the one I found has the EDID chip and will work on my T61? These
IBM P/N: 93P5570
FRU P/N: 11P8348
seem not to be in the EDID database

To be on the safe side I would choose one that is coming from a T60/T61.
Or post a LF here in the Marketplace, you're be on the safe side here in the forum

Dear all,
for some time I decided to stick with my LCD screen with purple vertical lines, but now it looks I need to change it. New set of lines are spreading. Since I'm a bit distant from US I was considering local shops in Bulgaria.
So far I found these two XGAs for my T61, 4:3, 14.1 machine. Can anyone give any feedback on these two and whether they are compatible with my machine? So far I wasn't able to clarify it.

Personally I would not recommend any XGA screen. Look for the SXGA+. I'd rather live with the purple lines than XGA.

Well, since you have a 14.1 non-widescreen, you can transplant the board into a 15.0 non-widescreen chassis.
Only then can you have an IPS screen.
I've seen an SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) 14.1 inch T60/T61 only once, but I have to say that the particular one I saw had very poor viewing angles. You may want to check other threads, some may have discussions regarding the viewing angles of the different SXGA+ panels used in the T60/61 series.
There IS one non-IPS 14.1 LCD with good viewing angles: the CMO N141X9-L01, though it's only XGA. It's discussed here:

I have X301 so i know what is bad viewing angles....
But frankie should have a IPS or proper panel.
