I'm still able to log in through Windows Safe mode. Some searching around the net leads me to believe it's either my RAM or the motherboard itself, though I've forgotten how to remove the RAM properly.

I would agree that it also looks like a memory error. You should try running memtest to see if it actually the problem though. To remove the ram, you can look at the HMM on Lenovo's website. But all you need to do to access the memory is to remove the 4 screws below the palmrest that have the little keyboard and memory icon engraved into the basecover, and that are next to the screw holes.

I ran the memtest86 program and here are the results.

There are no errors so what should I check now?

Also, why am I able to boot into safe mode with a hardware issue?

The problem could just be Vista becoming corrupt. Did you install any programs or change any settings before these issues occurred? Also, you can try doing a system restore to a time when you did not have the problem to see if that fixes the issue.

I tried the full restore and upon completion Vista still didn't boot, but I guess a plus is that my old data was overwritten.

I'm starting to believe something on the motherboard shorted. The reason I say this is because my laptop was working fine in my room and when I powered it on in the living room it showed this error. That particular outlet had given me some trouble before. The laptop would show that the power was plugged in but would not turn on(occasionally) when the power button was pressed. I used a separate outlet afterwards and it worked fine afterwards. Anyway, if it is mobo-related it's probably something beyond my ability to repair/diagnose unless there's a free diagnostic tool out there that does it.(I don't want to dump any more money into this laptop).

Regardless I appreciate the help.

Remove the wireless card and see if the error goes away.

Good luck.

I had a similar NMI fault on my previous T60. It was dead, probably some motherboard fault.
I retained the power supply, the DVD drive and a lot of screws :D

Started on this in the morning and the screws on the wireless card are very tough to unscrew(improper tools most likely). Any suggestions on where I can get a set which would have the right screwdriver. The guide says the screws are M2 x 9.5mm, flathead.

Hmmm...Philips #0 and # 1 are all I ever use for working on T6x machines...those screws shouldn't be "real" flathead ones.

Phillips #1 did the trick. Unfortunately, the hardware error still appeared after the removal of the wireless LAN card.
Thanks for the suggestion.
