T61 upgrade to 500G HD and Win 8.1

Hi - Id like to buya new HD (WD BLACK SERIES WD5000BPKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive) and Win 8.1 (full Version), then yank the old HD, install the new one, put in the Win 8.1 disk and hopefully the operating system starts to load.
Will this work? (Dont need to port anything over from the old HD)

See no reason why it won't. You may hit some missing driver issues down the road, but the installation itself should go through fine.
