I hope I have selected the correct topics board to post this question on,
My question is what is the difference between the IBM t60 vs the t60p laptops?
Why did IBM choose to build two different models? in the same series.
I am just curious when I shop on ebay or here?
Just a brief laymans explanation would be fine or point me to Link where a this is simply explained?
I thank-you in advance for your reply's

The "p" designation was used by IBM for many years - starting with A20 series - for top-end units which sported a high-resolution screen and a stronger GPU.
T60 was available with Intel Integrated graphics, ATi X1300 or X1400 GPU, while its "p" sibling was offered with stronger ATi V5200 or V5250 graphics.
T60 was offered as 14" XGA and SXGA+ LCDs, while the 14" T60p is always SXGA+
T60 in the 15" guise was available as XGA and SXGA+ - the latter being an IPS FlexView screen - while the "p" variant was initially UXGA IPS which was replaced by SXGA+ IPS on very late models.
XGA = 1024x768
SXGA+ = 1400x1050
UXGA = 1600x1200
There also were 15.4" widescreen variants, with 1680x1050 on "p" models, and 1280x800 or 1680x1050 on the standard ones.

T61 generation is a whole another ball of wax, and a rather complicated one at that.
Three screen sizes: 14" standard (4:3), 14 widescreen (16:10) and 15.4" widescreen.
The "p" was not available as a 14" widescreen.
What type of machine/specs are you looking for, and what's your budget?

Thanks ajlula66,
Another question,did the t61 15inch come out in the standard screen or only the wide screen?
What the heck is a Frakenpad?,is it like a modified ford mustang ie larger motor ect. just an anology I'm using.
Thankyou again by helping my understanding of my favorite ibm series the t60's.

T61/p was never offered as a standard (4:3) 15", hence the whole FrankenPad concept which is based on installing a motherboard from 14" (4:3) T61/p into a 15" (4:3) T60/p chassis and gaining the advantage of 8GB RAM, faster CPUs and other *61 goodies combined with an IPS FlexView LCD.
