T61 random reboots

I have a 15.4W T61 that's randomly rebooting. Nvidia graphics, but never any video glitches. Late 2007 build date. I thought it might be the ram, so replaced with new. No change. Running Mint Linux, with temp monitoring, doesn't appear to have any temp glitches.

Can this be the nvidia bug? I thought they would always come with video glitches. The rebooting seems to be worse when there are more windows open, and more processor working. Can a bad CPU cause random reboots?

I'm about ready to replace the motherboard it's driving my wife nuts!

Sounds like the issue could be overheating. Do you notice the computer getting hot?

Nobody can remember it getting hot. I don't believe it was, but i wasn't present for the events.

Sometimes a bad HDD can cause restarts. Might be worth running a full diagnostics scan of the disk. Or, just remove the HDD, and boot a LiveDVD/USB and see if the problem goes away.

You can remove any peripherals not needed to boot and work - WiFi, WWAN, ToorboMem; UltraBay, PCMCIA, ExpressCard things; disconnect palmrest and give it a try.
