Turn off VeriSign

I am having nothing but trouble with VeriSign. It keeps interfering with some of my transactions on the Internet. One example is, preventing me from connecting to "http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/"
where I usually go to download my ThinkPad t60 drivers.
The address bar changes it to "https://support.lenovo.de/" which is not where I want to go.

And today I had the same problem trying to communicate with eBay.
I was asked some questions by eBay about some parts that I'm interested in buying for my t60,
but my answer was not being sent, I suspect, because of this VeriSign thing.
Please excuse this dumb question. I'm a user, so digging around in this area is a new experience for me. It's possible that the answer is built into XP but I've never come up against such a peculiar behavior like this before.
Does anybody know how to get around this problem?

Stop using that antiquated IE, install PaleMoon instead: http://www.palemoon.org/
XP with its IE is no longer supported, I guess you know that?

I've never heard of VeriSign being a piece of software installed on a local computer. What exactly is this VeriSign you're describing? How is it presented on your computer?

If you are actually using Windows XP and Internet Explorer, though, it would be a very good idea to stop using IE and switch to another browser, say Firefox, Chrome or Opera.
