My beloved T61 with 1680x1050 and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140m died today - flexing probably because of high temperature.

My idea is to buy another T61 and just put inside the old hard disk. I have Windows XP installed.

Is it going to work if I get a T61 with Intel GM965 graphics (and a resulution of 1280x800)? Which problems might occur?

With XP you should be fine. It will probably protest, and default to 800x600 graphics until you reload the correct driver. Also if you read the EULA, you are probably breaking Uncle Bills law, but then he is not going to hunt you down on XP.
