T61.wikispaces.com to be removed

I was notified today that wikispaces is going to remove this page because they don't consider it educational...
http://t61.wikispaces.com/
I've appealed this decision because I feel their definition of "educational" is skewed to only apply to commercial education where the students pay (directly or indirectly), and that the purest form of education is totally free, like this website.
I'm hoping they reconsider as it would be a great loss after the work we put into it.

Well, see if Bill would allow you to post the contents in the T6x forum as a separate thread and have it stickied...can't think of much else, really.

Thanks guys,
The member who first created the page is hosting it on his own webserver, but the problem is that the address is currently getting 75 to 100 unique hits daily and this comes from people sharing the link and google searches, it's become the foremost source for thinkpad motherboard info and it took some research to gather all the info so I'd hate for it to suddenly become hidden if wikispaces won't redirect the hits.
This is a totally free project, neither we nor wikispaces has monetized the site so we cannot and will not pay them to continue to host it. I have sent in an appeal and anyone here in the forum can contact them using the "contact us" link at this address...

Also, if the admins at thinkwiki.org and thinkwiki.de would like me to add my tables to their sites I'd probably be willing to do so. One of them did contact me about a year ago for permission to link it, but I never heard back from them after agreeing to that and more. The only thing I ask is for access to update and make corrections as needed, but this is about more than just my work, the motherboard info may have made the site popular, but the original author did a lot of work and I really think the entire site should be preserved.
If anyone wants to contact them, please be polite and perhaps point out that it contains info that isn't available on any official lenovo or ibm websites and is a valuable educational tool to anyone who ones one of these great thinkpads.

Very bad

T6x era going to the end

Lenovo cleared database from that models. Wikispace thinks that historical notes is not educational;)
PS
Today i have noted "Drivers and HMMs" link on top of this forum. May by "T61 home" may be hosted there (ask Bill)?

That sounds like a good idea.

Good News!!!
My appeal was approved. They didn't reclassify it as educational, but gave us a free upgrade to their "plus" service indefinitely.
My initial plea:
Regarding the page at
http://t61.wikispaces.com/ which you claim is non-educational. I was looking into reclassifying this as educational but from what I can tell you only consider something to be educational if it's in a setting where students pay (directly or indirectly) to learn, and a website that has become world renowned as the goto stop for Thinkpad T61 info and is 100% free and offers education to anyone at all, is not entitled to this "educational" classification.
Please clarify if I'm not understanding this properly, but if I am I'd like to ask that you make an exception for this page as I feel this is purely educational and even more so than if it was used in a classroom setting. I have nothing against commercialized education, but I think the purest form of education is that which is freely available to the people without tuition or taxes and I think Ben Franklin would agree since this is similar to his vision of wanting educational materials to be available to all in the public library.
I ask that you would please classify this page as educational
Wikispaces reply:
Hi. Sorry about the delay in response.
The T61 wiki doesn’t qualify as educational in our definition but as a long time Wikispaces user we’d be happy to give you a free (non-education) upgrade to our Plus service for it indefinitely.
Let me know if you’d like us to go ahead and do that.
Adam

Hey Tuus, just catching up with this now. That's great news that the t61 wikispace will be continued - I've certainly found it educational a few times in the past year!
Phil.
