Bluetooth on T61
Bluetooth on T61
I have just been modding a T61(8895-W27) and noticed that T61s have an empty slot for a BT daughter card. So I bought a new card, pt/no 39T0497 and slotted it in.
In device manager all I see is the bus enumerator but no device at all in either XP or W7. The inverter card is 41W1478. I have loaded the BT lenovo software
My question is have I missed something or do I just have a DOA card?

4 X T23 + 6 breaking for parts
1 X T23 with Samsung 840 SSD and XP Great combination !

The BT card goes inside the lid, opposite of the inverter, provided your LCD cable has the connector for it.
There is no BT-slot inside the chassis.
The modem-slot next to the wifi card is a lookalike, did you put it in there?

Looking at the parts list I see only one LCD cable listed for the T61 which means that they all have a BT connector behind the LCD bezel which is where I fitted the card. The bezel of course does not have the BT symbol so cannot show an LED light when BT is active (if it were !).RealBlackStuff wrote:The BT card goes inside the lid, opposite of the inverter, provided your LCD cable has the connector for it.

There are two inverter cards listed, perhaps only one of them has BT enabled ?
My T61 has a Sierra card fitted and I am wondering if there is a bios restriction preventing BT and Sierra working on one machine together, I am clutching at straws here.
I have an external usb BT adapter and this does work but it would be good to have the internal one instead.

Did you check the BIOS settings? Maybe it's disabled in the BIOS.

The word slotted confused me...JBUK wrote:So I bought a new card, pt/no 39T0497 and slotted it in.
As Axur said, check BIOS, but you probably also need to install the BT driver, as well as try out Fn/F5.

Yes install drivers + switch WIRELESS with main switch + Use FnF5 to activate bluetooth and the drivers will see new bluetooth device.RealBlackStuff wrote:also need to install the BT driver, as well as try out Fn/F5.JBUK wrote:So I bought a new card, pt/no 39T0497 and slotted it in.
No. There are different manufacturers of these inverters but they interchangeable.JBUK wrote: There are two inverter cards listed, perhaps only one of them has BT enabled ?
No. I don't heared about bluetooth lock in bios. Yes there is an option in BIOS to switch off some peripherals but it can be switched on if it needed. I have some thinkpads inc T601 Frankenpad with full house of communication interfaces and they all working well.JBUK wrote: My T61 has a Sierra card fitted and I am wondering if there is a bios restriction preventing BT and Sierra working on one machine together, I am clutching at straws here.
Re: Bluetooth on T61
Solved:
I did not have Hotkey support installed so could not switch on the new BT card. Once this was loaded on then using Fn+F5 switched on the BT device.
This took longer to work out than it should have done but alls well that ends well.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
