This week I received a mystery refurb laptop that I bought on Woot.com. It ended up being a ThinkPad T61.

I want to look up the specs and see what I got. But I can't find ANYTHING when I try to look up the serial number. I thought I could see when it was originally sold by entering that into the warranty lookup page, or find specs based on the model number...

According to the bottom of the laptop, it was manufactured 07/11.
TYPE 7661-E17 S/N L3-M7746

The original Windows 7 license sticker is stamped "DO NOT USE" (and a new sticker is next to it that's a "refurb license")
and interestingly enough it says "Lenovo Singapore". Is that why I can't find anything?

I know it has the Core 2 Duo Merom 2.00 GHz T7300 CPU and Intel 965 graphics.

I'm wondering what screen it has and just wanted to find a spec sheet on the internet somewhere to read over. Can anyone help me?

Well, I played around with the warranty lookup tool on Lenovo's site and found I had to enter the S/N without any dashes, then the model number without dashes.

The manufacture date that says 07/11 refers to 2007 November, I see. I thought it was odd a T61 would be made in 2011! This makes sense, I'm just not used to seeing the date "backwards". Location on warranty was listed as USA, not Singapore. Maybe Singapore is just where it was manufactured?

edit: I guess the original Windows license, which is badly worn, must have been for Windows XP Pro or Vista Business.

And that explains why I couldn't find anything. I didn't know Lenovo had removed the database for older units.
