Hi there,

I am upgrading my t60. I got the ssd in there, and from the thread about running the t60 silent I also got a new fan.

I understand that I need the latest bios on this machine to be able to update the cpu do I simply use the bios from lenovo site:
http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/product ... inkpad-t60

I read that there is a hacked bios where you could have your own image at boot - is it true? Where can I find this?

I understand that all the information is here on the forum, but I couldn't find the right post that would have all that info.

Thanks for the kick in the right direction!

"How to change the BIOS bootsplash screen (under Windows)" on ThinkWiki
http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_change ... r_Windows)

If you like it, then archive it. I fear ThinkWiki will not still be there in a few years.

Thanks - do I need to upgrade my BIOS if I only want to upgrade my CPU ? or that doesn't matter ?

My bios version is 2.27 - what I am wondering about is that the new CPU would be 64bit architecture, which is different from the CPU I have now?
(I have a intel 2400 1.83 ghz)

No need to update the BIOS for a 64-bit CPU.
Regardless of CPU or OS, you can still only use max. 3GB RAM of the 4GB that will fit in that T60.
Because of this, you are better off if you stick with a 32-bit OS.
