Dear Thinkpad lovers,

I just happen to have a 4:3 t61 and an IPS T60 thing of beauty. With this combination of course I will have a go to make a classic T61 mobo based frankenpad. As far as I know a modification to T60 case is necessary so it can accommodate the t61 mainboard. My questions are related to this:

- Is there a compete guide, description, post or anything describing the case and any other hardware modifications that I have to perform on the T60? I could not find anything besides snippets of info.
- I would like to put the T60 motherboard back to the T61 case, is this possible? What do I have to perform to do this? Is there a guideline for this as well?

Thank you very much in advance.

Cheers

There maybe some useful info in this old thread ---> Parts for the ultimate 15” T60 UXGA FlexView w/T61(p) mobo?

If you have no experience on doing this and need an idea on what challenges you'd be looking at- I'm currently making a video to try and help interested persons such as yourself understand the process a lot better: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=116232

Although it sounds like you already know how it's done and some tidbits of the process... the topic that Peak2Peak there linked is a very good start, but the info is kind of scattered. I'm not sure we have a precise guide at the moment on building a T60/61 Frankenpad. If someone else knows where one is... or if we can have one made, I'd be down to help with it. When I made my Frankenpad, admittedly there were multiple steps that I had missed out on in my research, that TuuS(the forum member who sold me an awesome kit to assist with the build, definitely recommend contacting him) informed me of and I probably would have messed up my Frankenpad build if he didn't help me out.

Regardless, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. We'll help you figure out the best avenue of approach with your desire to pursue a Frankenpad. It really depends on your needs... sometimes we advise people just to get a 15" Thinkpad T60p with the UXGA screen and call it a day.

It is possible to take the spare parts(T61 chassis, T60 motherboard) and smash them together into what we sometimes call a "Reverse Frankenpad". You lose the functionality of the modem, like you do with the normal T60 chassis T61 motherboard Frankie as well.
