T60P freezes at Bios coming up

Hello,

my Thinkpad T60P had been working fine until this Monday, when I pressed the power button but accidentally didn't push in the DVD-bay completely into the slot, and the small handle was still outside, after removing a secondary HD caddy.

Now it freezes right at the ThinkPad pre-BIOS screen, no matter if I press the ThinkVantage button or not.

I wonder if the partially pushed-in bay could have caused a hardware problem? Or maybe there is an easy reset to fix it?

thanks for sharing any insight.

Try starting the machine without the battery and report back.

Good luck.

thanks much for responding.

I did by taking out the battery. But it's still the same.

I also put in a BIOS upgrade CD, but it freezes before even reading it.

Never attempt to update BIOS on an unstable system. Unless you feel like swapping the motherboard, pronto.

the thing suddenly started working after I disassembled the frame.
