Hi. I disabled a bunch of the Lenovo drivers to reduce bloatware, but now the silver mute, vol up and vol down buttons no longer work. Which driver do I need to re-enable?

T61? My guess would be the Hotkey (Lenovo) and Sound (Soundmax) drivers.
In the T60 I *think* these buttons were handled by the embedded controller and as such should work even without a driver (although a driver can take over them).

Strange. I am convinced they should just work, but maybe I don't remember correctly. In any case - do try the aforementioned drivers.

The Power Management driver, perhaps?

I don't have a T6x system but I'm fairly sure that everything prior to that did not need any drivers or software to enable control over the physical mute and volume buttons. If you are saying that "buttons no longer work" = "no on-screen display of their status", then that's a function of the OnScreen display (Hotkeys) package. If you are saying that you don't hear anything out of the speakers when they should be playing something, I do know that sometimes Windows will have volume sliders that are buried or normally hidden if you just select the "standard" audio controls. Launch Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Adjust system volume.

I just installed Win7/64 on a T61 and all the silver buttons worked straight out of the box. I just checked my drivers and the only ones listed in ProgMan is Lenovo Power Manager 1.67.09.03 and ThinkPad UltraNav 16.2.19.7 as well as Modem and Graphics. I seem to remember doing all those manually.
I don't have Hotkey drivers installed as I could not get any of them to work with fn:f2/f5/f8 but I do have Soundmax Intergrated HD Audio 6.10.2.7275 driver which I assume Windows installed behind the scenes as I don't have an uninstall feature for it.
I also found an easy workaround for fn:f2/f5/f8 although I'm only bothered about F5..

Those buttons work even when I was messing around and installed DOS and W95 and always worked on my Linux console!
Those buttons doesn't use any driver as far as I know, but maybe you installed some software that took over and now your mixer program doesn't recognise them.
