Boot Menu -USB HDD in BIOS Setup

When I bring up the boot sequence page of the BIOS setup, one of the entries is:
-USB HDD

It's indented from the entries above and below it.

Does this mean I can't boot from a USB device like a flash drive?

What does it mean?

I have just got this W520 abd tries to set it up fotr Wake On LAN by a Magic Pack.

It will not wake up !

I feel silly asking this question, but was curious. Someone said w510 could boot from a usb. If so, could an older os be booted that way...like 98se...
