Thinkpad T60 XP/7 On-Screen Display

#1 Post by teamde78 » Sat Jul 18, 2015 6:31 pm

I currently have 2 Thinkpad t60's one running XP and the other 7. They are both running perfectly and really fast for what I want to use them for. However, after installing all drivers and updating everything, the on-screen display is currently not working when using the lamp or volume buttons. I have of course been looking for solutions online, and to no avail, nothing seems to be working.

Anyone have an experience with this issue, and how they got it working.

Again, it's not something that is absolutely necessary, but to get the classic thinkpad feel, I would like to find a solution to get this fixed.

Thanks

In order for OSD to work you need the appropriate versions Power Manager (both the driver and the utility itself), Hotkeys and likely Access Connections installed.

Do bear in mind that there is a fairly recent Windows Update - I have yet to figure out which one exactly - that breaks this setup. I'm at the point of re-installing the OS from scratch on one system due to that particular nonsense from Microsoft.

Good luck.

The fix in this post may help you:
"T420: Can't get hotkeys or on screen display working (XP)"
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=115047

Note the link to the older version of HotKey Features, as more recent ones don't work with XP despite claiming they do.

Thank you! I tried this on my XP machine, and it worked. I haven't gotten around to trying it in my w7 machine, but will let you know if it works.

Sorry for double post, but just to confirm, after installing the older drivers, everything is now working great on my windows 7 T60. Thanks for all the help!
