t60 wont boot - nothing on screen

Hi,
Been a while, my t60 may be on it's last straw so this is a hail marry before I give up.
I was using it the other day and the screen went pink (lots of rectangles all over the screen) and then the computer died. Now it wont start: I turn it on and I get some fan action and nothing on screen. No recent changes made to system/bios.
What I have tried:
1. took out all connections, drives and battery - no change
2. power supply is fine (tested on another system)
3. When I plug in power, I get batt light for a second then nothing. when I power up I get numlock then nothing.
4. static discharge - no change
5. boot without ram - 1-3-3-1 beeps which means no ram
Is my motherboard toast? should i try replacing CPU (i have a spare)?
Tnx

What happens if you connect an external monitor?
If nothing there either, then you'll need a new mobo.
Pink screen usually indicates a dying CCFL backlight.
Weird squares etc. indicates "busted" video-RAM.
Guess you have ATI-graphics?
What's the TYPE on the bottom label (we don't need the S/N).

You can
marry all the
hail you like, won't do you any good though.
However, saying a
Hail Mary has been known to work at times, especially in your neck of the woods...

Tnx!
lol, I preach to a different religion and a different language, hence the merry mistake.
I'm fairly certain it's ATI. Case says the type is 2007-pbg, but I swapped the motherboard a couple of years back so I actually have no idea and don't know how to check.
Had I had a monitor I would have checked that, I'll try to do that as soon as I can.
If it is the monitor at this point it's not worth fixing anyway - batt is dead, case is broken, (I actually welded the screen back onto the base 4 month's ago because the hinge broke from overheating), and I don't see anything I can do to stop it continuously overheating that would be time/cost effective.
What else can I check assuming its not the monitor (it would be weird for the monitor to just suddenly stop working with no warning no?)

Was that overheating due to a hot inverter (inside the lid) or due to a hot CPU?
If the first, a new inverter might solve it, although not too likely.
If the latter, when did you last refresh thermal paste between CPU/fan?
Maybe now's the time to move on...

not sure
could it be a fried CPU? i can stick a new one in (Not my only T60) but does that even make sense as far as how the error is displaying?

The mobo P/N or FRU is under your RAM sticks.
You could try another CPU, but that would make little sense at this stage of the game.
You could check the complete lid on your other T60, if it still works.
Or use your other T60 and keep this for spares (if anything still usable).

FRU: 41V9916
CPU: little or no sense (i'll waste 20 minutes taking it apart if there is a chance...)
The other one is for spares - the power connection to the mobo is fried...
tnx

Looks like an ATI-X1300 mobo.
You can transfer the DC-socket from one to the other machine, but you have to first take the chassis-with-mobo completely out of the base.
Or get one on e.g. eBay:

my teck guy said the receiving component (for the power jack) on the board was toast, he sounded convincing though I had my doubts. You think that could be?
tnx
