T60P lid switch disables internal speakers

I've been having some issues with the internal speakers lately on my T60P.
I thought at first that the headphone jack had some issues since the speakers would only work once a pair of headphones were plugged into the jack and removed. I then noticed that once this was done that the speakers would not work after coming out of sleep.
I can now trigger this every time by playing some music through the internal speakers and placing a magnet over the lid switch. I disabled sleeping for a test and each time I trigger the lid close with the magnet the internal speakers become disabled.
Cleaning and/or bending back the headphone pins are not a solution.
Has anyone experienced this before? Perhaps a grounding issue?
**update**
Opened up laptop, reseated all cables etc and that seems to have solved the issue. Hopefully this is a long-term fix.
