Hello, I have a question. Is it possible to take a 1600x1200 screen out of 15" T42p (or R50p) lid and put it in a 15" T60 lid?
According to the thinkwiki both the T42p and T60p use the same 92P6683, 92P6753, and 42T0345 1600x1200 IPS displays.
Thanks.

The screen will mount fine iirc, but the display lacks an edid chip that tells the computer how to use the display properly, so no. Some late t43 models came with the chip, but it is quite rare.

Actually, this question (whether a T4x/R5x LCD can be made to work in a T6x ThinkPad) has been discussed in the past, and the answer is: Yes, it can be - and has been! - done, although it's a bit delicate. See
this post and the links referenced therein - especially the post by expert-forum.thinkpads.com member

Anyhow, it's probably easier to find a good used T6x LCD (and a complete T6x with a good LCD!) and use that as a donor...
