T61 w/second HDD in Ultrabay question

Hello ThinkFolks. I recently bought a 7200rpm 320GB SATA II HDD to put in the also recently bought HDD Ultrabay caddy. Although the caddy states SATA on it from what I have come to understand is that the UltraBay is PATA only in a T61 and the drive will run at PATA speeds. My main goal is to get a SSD very soon for the main drive bay and use the new HDD in the UltraBay. I only want to install Windows and a few programs I use on a daily basis on the SSD to get SATA II speeds w/Middleton BIOS already installed, and use the secondary HDD for storage and seldomly used programs. My question is for the folks who already have a similar setup and what speeds, issues, and any other general information with this type of configuration that I should know about. Thanks in advance!!

My personal preference is to have all the programs on the SSD and use the HDD for storage purposes only. To each their own, by all means. The concept of having two bootable drives - with presumably the same OS - may or may not cause issues down the road, though.

Happy upgrading.

Thank you for the reply. I guess my whole issue is this... I run PLEX on my T61 and use it to locally stream to my ROKU. I use it daily and a lot. What kind of performance issues should I expect? I would be keeping my movies and tv shows on the HDD in the ultrabay and running PLEX off the SSD when I purchase it.
