I thought this was going to be easy. Just buy a WXGA+ LCD and have a 1440x900 display. My motherboard is a 42W7866 which is a 14.1" with Intel graphics 965GM GPU X3100GM. The LCD I installed was a LG 42T0579 (listed in HMM for the T61). The display looks nice except it only gives me 1280x800 resolution.

The LCD came with a ribbon cable and inverter but the inverter is the same for the old display. It lists the same ribbon cable for both the WXGA and WXGA+ so I used the WXGA ribbon cable. The Ribbon on the WXGA+ was slightly different and was missing the part number. The difference was in the area of the Bluetooth daughter card and made it not quite fit.

I downloaded the Lenovo Monitor INF File 4.38 and followed the install instructions.
I downloaded the Intel driver file 8.15.10.1867 but my existing driver was slightly newer so I didn't install it.

When I run Intel's media accelerator software it only shows a max res of 1280x800.

I could use some help from someone that has done this WXGA to WXGA+ or knows what I'm doing wrong.

Uninstall the Intel driver and let the system load the generic (standard VGA or whatever it's called) one. What's the highest resolution available to you now?

BTW, which OS are we discussing here to begin with?

Normally on a new install your resolution will be 1280x800 until you install the drivers for the display device. I have T410 models with 1440x900 and it takes an display driver to have them showing 1440x900. If you are using Windows, the windows update will pick up the drivers and a reinstall is necessary. Go into device manager and (monitors) make certain it recognizes your display as LCD 1440x900. If it does you simply need a 1440x900 display driver.

Windows 7 Pro 64Bit. With the display adapter and monitor drivers uninstalled 1280x800 is the highest resolution.

The LCD is 42T0579 which is suppose to have 1440x900 resolution.
