15" LG Philips IPS screen in T60 - unique model??

Recently I installed a brand new IPS/Flexview LCD in my 15" 4:3 T60, but ran into a big problem: the bulb is clearly turning on, but the screen doesn't display anything (it's completely black - not even the initial logo splash comes up). The LCD cable, inverter etc definitely work fine. The model # of the new screen is 150E05-A2. I notice the old (working) screen is 150E05-A2-K1. I thought it would be ok, but is this one of those instances when we need to use the exact same (unique) model #?

IIRC, T6x series have a whitelist for the LCDs. It reads the panels EDID (Extended Display Identification Data), checking if it's a Lenovo part or not.
There's a way to flash a different EDID into the panel, but I've never had a T60 so I've never done the procedure. Let's wait for other forum members to provide the steps, or try searching for "EDID flash" in the T60 subforum.

I have a few of those of those IPS screens to play around with:

Thanks. But the original q still stands: Does anyone know whether the 150E05-A2-K1 screen is the only 15" IPS screen from LG Philips that will work with the T60/p? (natively, i.e. without any flashing or other mods) If anyone has any experience with LG Philips 150E05-A2 screens please chime in!

I
think that an important piece of information is perhaps missing here; being that when you write "150E05-A2-K1" you actually mean "
LP150E05-A2-K1" - is that correct?
The (LP)150E05-A2-K1 is a LG-Hynix/LP Philips panel according to
this site so therefore I suggest you try
search this site for
"LP150E05-A2-K1" site:forum.thinkpads.com (and/or search for "LP150E05 (A2)(K1)") and see what comes up...
Earlier on I have sold myself a number of LG-Philips LP150E05(A2)(K1) = Lenovo FRU 42T0325 (via
this forum), and they have worked perfectly!
As to how the EDID can be programmed on the panel (if need be); see the thread
T6x EDID database. Information about the required hardware to program the EDID can be found in
this and the following posts. Could however seem a bit complicated, compared to if having the option to get a new/NOS LCD panel for more or less the same money, compared to having to get a programmer, mess a lot with it etc. Anyhow; your money, your choice!

Thanks Johan - yes, there's an implied "LP" preceding both model #'s I referred to (afaik there are no other LG Philips LCDs with model # 150E05(A2)...
So...I hate to sound repetitive, but that still leaves the original q: Does anyone know if an LP150E05-A2 (not *K1) will work natively in a T60/p??

You can only find out if you compare datasheets from both -A2 and A2K1.
The fact that both have -A2 in their type does NOT imply that they are compatible.
Just 1 digit or letter difference in the type might blow your motherboard's fuse(s) or worse!
Unless it is a proven fact that they work, you do NOT put non-FRU/non-Lenovo screens in a Thinkpad.
Your Thinkpad, your money, your risk...

Great, thanks very much RBS. Luckily nothing went wrong this time, but I'll be very careful next time...
