I didn't notice this before my upgrade to the Middleton BIOS. However, I didn't used my T61 much until the upgrade. Any clues? I have the latest drivers so think can rule that out.

AFAIK Middleton's BIOS for T61 does not include any GPU mod.
But perhaps you installed the wrong version?
Dying inverter?
Crappy Windows 10 causing havoc with an unwanted update?

I have installed M's BIOS on well over a hundred T61 machines, never a buzz!

Thanks for your response. I installed the proper BIOS. I did install some optional Windows updates. Maybe I should delete them. Could a poor WIFI connection cause this?

I'm still searching for a solution to the buzz problems. Basically its a stutter. Found this video on YouTube made by someone else. Toward the end you can hear the same problem. Anyone know how to fix this? Driving me nuts. This seems to have appeared after upgrading to the Middleton BIOS but I'm not willing to roll it back to confirm yet.

any optional updates have win10 stuff inthem. and win10 dont play well with Thinkpads at all. in fact it disables many features on them and has no compatible drivers/fix for them just dont want them doing anything MS dont support seems. its why I killed any hint of win10 on mine after a 1 week trial due toway limited/boring, unusable OS since DOS or a burn cel or kids tablet without the games.

BTW, I am running W7 64 bit. I even deleted the sound drivers and reinstalled them. At a loss as far as what to do. This problem seems to predate W10 given what I read on Google searches for a solution.

If you think the display driver failing and recovering is causing it, my T61P was doing that for a while, and I thought the Nvidia graphics had finally bitten the dust. However, it STOPPED after a while, and I haven't seen it since. I thought maybe Windows update or a new Nividia update was the solution. Anyway, it's been a few months since I've seen the failure. It has the standard BIOS, and I have seen the stuttering the video shows.

I wonder if DPC Latency Checker or LatencyMon can find the cause of the issue.
