T60 : Power-on bug

#1 Post by malademental » Thu Feb 25, 2016 2:01 pm

Hi, I have a T60 that worked very well since I bought it 3 years ago, but I was traveling in my van and sometimes I had to use it with a high moisture level. One day, near "Le Puy en Velay", it stopped to switch on when I had the battery cable plugged in. I figured out that I could make it work by charging the battery a little bit and then unplug the cable while pushing the power button to re-plug it just after. Why it does this? Is it a battery problem? Or just some security? Please help me it's really annoying and I use it a lot... Thanks!

You mean you had a few too many?

If it runs OK when only on mains, methinks your battery is done traveling and wants to settle down.
If you like the area, I suggest you relax a little with this Song from the Auvergne: Bailero

I hear what you think but nowadays I'm no more travelling - sadly - but I'll do it again! And my battery is full of fullness, so I'm just waiting to get away again and again...

Thanks for the song, and I'm in alsace now, we have just less funny songs that auvergne!

Make sure you visit the likes of Gueberschwir, Eguisheim, Riquewihr, Ribeauville, Colmar, etc. especially in the summer.
I have visited their famous wine festivals many times while I was living in nearby Switzerland.
Not to mention the tons of fantastic restaurants all over the place, many with several Michelin stars. I miss those

I hope that noone of you will feel offended, but you guys have to hurry up. Soon there won't be any Michelin star awarded restaurants since Michelin do not give any to kebab booths. Old fashion France is dying in pain and you can't do anything about it. At least that is how i feel last time.

If this is the same bug i have on my old T60 - it can't start only on mains (AC). It can start only when AC unplugged (on battery).
Worse thing - sometimes it wan't start at all untill mainboard completely remains unpowered (unplugged AC, battery and CMOS battery under the keyboard) for couple of seconds.
I haven't found a cure for this bug - haven't found any strange signs on mainboard:( So i have built a Frankenpad ;)
