Hi guys

I have a working T61 14.1" laying around with the right bezel broken with some bits of plastic broken so I don't think I can repair it other than getting a T60/T61 chassis. This particular model have the SXGA+ screen and Intel graphics.

I'd like to re-use that motherboard either on a 14.1 T60 or on a 15" T61 in hope of getting the UXGA screen.

Can anyone recommend me which place can I get the BOE Hydis Panel?
I've found several sellers on Alibaba offering that screen but you have to write to them to get a response.

If I were you I'd buy the panel on eBay, even if you end up with the same Chinese sellers, because you have more recourse if the seller sends a bad item or an inferior substitute. On eBay you can get all your money back if you prove your case with photos, whereas on AliExpress they will usually only give you half your dough unless you return the goods to China at your own expense. Those panels are also on eBay.

The only chassis to get the UXGA screen you could put that motherboard in is the 15" T60, good thing is the intel integrated graphics boards are worth much more than the Nvidia ones.

And don't forget the 15" R61 (mostly sold in Europe and South-Asia).

I never had any luck finding those. They eliminate the need for a Frankenpad, if you can get your hands on one.

Probably, but you will be stuck with a ABS bottom case and lid on the 15" R61 instead of CFRP. It probably won't make too much of a difference, since the R61 will be thicker.

Interesting how the 14.1" widescreen R61/R400 was made out of the same materials as the T-series, but just thicker. They are probably one of the most abuse-resistant thinkpads made (minus the breaking usb tabs on the R400).

I have an R61i in my fleet, 15.4", it's about the clunkiest thing I've ever handled, but for desktop replacement use it doesn't matter. I have a WXGA screen on it, and my wife likes that better than high-res screens for her occasional internet forays

A fellow forum member had several on offer last autumn. I grabbed one and it's a thing of beauty especially with a Hydis LED panel...and no touchpad...

Updated how to mount (incl. pictures) a 15" Sharp UXGA in a T4x machine, see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 62#p779362

BTW, the Sharp P/Ns are: LQ150U1LW22 or LQ150U1LW22N

Hello everyone,
I have a question about a spare screen, I'm looking at a new screen for a new Frankie. I found a new Sharp LQ150U1LH22 screen. Do you know if anyone uses ASV technology? Thanks.

Yup, these are fine screens, however they are far away from IPS FV IMO.

PM me if needed, I have almost all the screens one may need for T6x and can take some shots so you can compare them.

Ah yes. Hunt for LQ150U1LW22 or LQ150U1LW22N - these two do have ASV.

I just thought I'd add to this old thread for the benefit of anyone who comes by. My old T60P with Boe-Hydis UXGA that has nearly 5 years of heavy use on the screen had yellowed badly, although it had only lost a notch or two of brightness. Using Catalyst Control Center I was able to restore it to a very satisfactory appearance - the biggest adjustment being to increase the blue gamma to 1.4. If anyone wants all my settings I'll be happy to share them, but that seems to be the key one. The takeaway from this, anyway, is that it may be worthwhile playing with the color settings before junking an old screen.

Very interesting information. I remember that a few years ago the common belief was that the yellowing and brightness loss was limited to the LG screens, and the Hydis were not suffering from it. Guess enough time changes everything...

Well, I wouldn't say it was as bad as what happens with the LG's, nor did it happen so prematurely. I was able to correct it to a point where I'm still comfortable using it, which isn't bad for a 5-year-old LCD panel on a ThinkPad with shiny keys and palm rest that's been my daily driver.

As an update, I just recalibrated the LG 1400 X 1050 on another old T60, and after much experimentation it also turned out to be purely a loss of blue, although it took a bigger increase in gamma to correct it (1.85 instead of 1.40). In both cases I've also added a tiny amount of brightness across the spectrum, which gives a more pleasing appearance on white backgrounds. I find it interesting that the color shift seems to be so purely at the high end of the light spectrum and is so simple to correct to a pleasing look. Of the two, the Hydis had lost less brightness and produced a better overall result, but I could work on either machine without the appearance of the screen bothering me.
