Re: Boe Hydis UXGA better than modern IPS?
Hi guys
I have a working T61 14.1" laying around with the right bezel broken with some bits of plastic broken so I don't think I can repair it other than getting a T60/T61 chassis. This particular model have the SXGA+ screen and Intel graphics.
I'd like to re-use that motherboard either on a 14.1 T60 or on a 15" T61 in hope of getting the UXGA screen.
Can anyone recommend me which place can I get the BOE Hydis Panel?
I've found several sellers on Alibaba offering that screen but you have to write to them to get a response.

If I were you I'd buy the panel on eBay, even if you end up with the same Chinese sellers, because you have more recourse if the seller sends a bad item or an inferior substitute. On eBay you can get all your money back if you prove your case with photos, whereas on AliExpress they will usually only give you half your dough unless you return the goods to China at your own expense. Those panels are also on eBay.agarza wrote:Hi guys

The only chassis to get the UXGA screen you could put that motherboard in is the 15" T60, good thing is the intel integrated graphics boards are worth much more than the Nvidia ones.agarza wrote:Hi guys

And don't forget the 15" R61 (mostly sold in Europe and South-Asia).

I never had any luck finding those. They eliminate the need for a Frankenpad, if you can get your hands on one.RealBlackStuff wrote:And don't forget the 15" R61 (mostly sold in Europe and South-Asia).
Re: Boe Hydis UXGA better than modern IPS?
Probably, but you will be stuck with a ABS bottom case and lid on the 15" R61 instead of CFRP. It probably won't make too much of a difference, since the R61 will be thicker.I never had any luck finding those. They eliminate the need for a Frankenpad, if you can get your hands on one.
Interesting how the 14.1" widescreen R61/R400 was made out of the same materials as the T-series, but just thicker. They are probably one of the most abuse-resistant thinkpads made (minus the breaking usb tabs on the R400).
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

I have an R61i in my fleet, 15.4", it's about the clunkiest thing I've ever handled, but for desktop replacement use it doesn't matter. I have a WXGA screen on it, and my wife likes that better than high-res screens for her occasional internet foraysbrchan wrote:Probably, but you will be stuck with a ABS bottom case and lid on the 15" R61 instead of CFRP. A fellow forum member had several on offer last autumn. I grabbed one and it's a thing of beauty especially with a Hydis LED panel...and no touchpad...Mindfulness Quebec wrote:I never had any luck finding those. All jokes aside, as a matter of principle I never discuss how much I bought or sold any of my ThinkPads for. Holds true for most other areas of life as well.

Updated how to mount (incl. pictures) a 15" Sharp UXGA in a T4x machine, see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 62#p779362
BTW, the Sharp P/Ns are: LQ150U1LW22 or LQ150U1LW22N
