T61 No Sound- Solved!

I spent countless hours a couple years ago, researching , trying to figure why there was no sound from this laptop. Finally just put the thing in a box and in the closet it went. Got it out awhile back and went at it again, spending way more countless hours researching, trying this, that, uninstalling this and installing that, etc. Finally reached a point where I was kinda sure it was the headphone jack was messed up. Reasoned that if the headphone jack was bad, I might be able to use a USB port for sound. Got all kinds of speakers, but no USB speakers. Remembered having a Griffin imic, but couldn't find it. Till this afternoon I came upon it unexpectedly. The T61 now has sound- just not from the headphone jack.
