Dead T61p type 6457-B64

Today I got in a dead T61p. It came with 2x2GB RAM and a T9300 CPU 08/08 build date.
The unit flashes lights for a second when I push the power button. The fan spins for a second then turns off. No lights on the screen, no beeps with or without RAM. Swapped the CPU with a T7200 same thing. If I have a battery installed that light stays on, power light stays on when plugged into the wall.
Any idea what could be the problem? Also what screen is in this thing?

According to MTM lookup, factory specs were:
Based 6457-8LU: T9300(2.5GHz), 3GB RAM, 160GB HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 256MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, FPR, 9c Li-Ion, WinVista Ultimate 32
Certainly sounds like a fried system board (less likely to die of GPU defect, sure - but not immune to that or other types of failure); take the whole thing apart and reassemble it carefully paying close attention to ensure there aren't any areas where the board could be shorting out against anything. Yank the CMOS battery while you work as well... who knows, you might get lucky.

And do NOT put a T7200 from a T60 into a T61.

You mean the 667 bus version?

A T7200 won't fit in the T61 CPU socket. I'm guessing you used a T7250 or similar.

Well not a total loss I guess. The 4GB of RAM works, the 1680x1050 screen is on my low res Intel GPU T61 along with the fingerprint reader (tightest T61 hinges I ever seen). The T9300 works great in my Nvidia GPU T61.
