Is my T60 salvageable

I recently bought an old T60 (Type 1953-DAU) (15in screen), but can't get it to switch on.

When I plug in the PSU the power light comes on as does the battery charging light, but when I try powering on they go out.

Is there anything I should try before scrapping it?

Remove the battery, then try the power button. Does that make any difference?

Get an Intel-GPU motherboard from a standard 4:3 (non-widescreen) 14.1" T61.
A few small mods to the chassis, and Bingo! you have a Frankenpad!
Your new T601 can now run with up to 8GB RAM and at SATA-II speed (with Middleton's BIOS.

I did come across this article about the 'secret powerbutton' on T60's and wondered if this might be applicable but haven't got it to work so far.... maybe it won't...

My T60 is a 15" model, so I'm not sure if you are suggesting that a motherboard from a 14" T61 would fit...

I didn't realise there were so many motherboards for the T60. I already bought a replacement for another T60 which stopped working only to find that certain slots were missing.

The idea of this Frankenpad sounds intriguing....

Yes, it will fit just fine. It's been done thousands of times. Minor mods required. Everything you need to know can be learned by searching this forum.
