Model 6463-5BU, Win7 Professional. No mods.

This is a really!! good one.....

Have tried -
F8 - no response (factory disabled, I'm told); other Fn work O-K, AFAIK.
no SAFE MODE option via the THINKPAD key

It's an imp-possible catch-22 (yes , I dood it my own self)..

I disabled the APPINFO service. Which then disallows any and all useful tools from being run.

Like MSCONFIG, REGEDIT f'rinstance.

(you'd think there'd be a Microsoft fix for this.. they must've thought of this... or not)

I've read that you can access SERVICES.MSC et al when in SAFE MODE even if APPINFO's disabled...

....if you can only GET there.

So even a RESTORE is not possible. No Administrator (or other..) ID verification == it's FUBAR.

Thoughts:

tweak the actual CONFIG parms manually to set SAFEMODE (possible?) then reboot

tweak the registry manually using an external editor that UAC won't block.

tweak UAC...?

After all, it's just a parm in a file, after all, right?

This is what I use for Windows 10 installations, it might help Win7 also.

Enable F8 option during bootup :
enter from elevated cmd prompt :
bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

Ah, hmm, well the inobvious? implication of APPINFO-oops! is: they just ain't
no UAC, so no 'elevated command prompt' is possible. Administrator exists nomore.

But I can try it. BTW, bcdedit is non-existant on XP, AFAIK.

Thanks, though, it's always edumacational here. :?

well, whatcha get is

The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
Access is denied.

btw is there a [blink]BLINK[/blink] option available? looks like not.
