Intel X9000 on eBay

#1 Post by Headrush » Fri Apr 14, 2017 7:53 am

There are multiple X9000s on ebay at a fair price. These are only 1 step up for me so will not be buying, but they are a fair price compared to the silly prices I've seen of late..

Wow, they are still like ~£43 shipped, if this is fair, I wonder how much they go for usually. Also I never really understood why would anyone use these CPUs, for +200 Mhz which is pretty much undetectable in any kind of use, you have a cpu that uses 10W more than a 2.6 ghz core2duo, and heats up like crazy, using more battery and making a louder system. Literally no advantage, only a tiny fraction in benchmark programs, and all the disadvantages that are definitely effecting usability (heat, noise, power consumption).

I'm sure you have heard of bragging rights...
Apart from that, I wouldn't touch that junk coming from China with a 10-foot pole!

I have built and sold a number of T601 FrankenPads with X9000 CPU, but those CPUs all came from a trusted source in the USA.

Exactly why I see no need to upgrade my T9300 zoltan, runs cool and quiet, undervolted and plenty fast enough for 24/7 torrent stuff and occasional weekends away. Just thought to post it anyway, someone might be interested seeing as most I've seen on eBay have been almost double that price..

Yeah, I remember a while ago I was checking this cpu out too, but after reading some it turned out that it looks good only on paper, not in real life use.
