Can't turn off microphone
Can't turn off microphone
For a few days now the internal microphone in my T60p is always on. Touching the palm rest, and pretty much anything on the base, sends sounds through the microphone and out the speaker jack to the external amp + speakers. I disabled the 3 SoundMAX recording devices, didn't help.

What changes/activities have you made recently?YoniG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 1:57 pmFor a few days now the internal microphone in my T60p is always on. Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Re: Can't turn off microphone
If you don't use your microphone at all, you can simply disable your microphone from BIOS (before boot-up).
Good luck!

Re: Can't turn off microphone
I did a System Restore to a point I'm confident is before the problem started, didn't help.
The only other unaccountted-for change is that the palm rest has gotten loose recently. Actually, the electrical tape I use to secure it (some screws are missing) got loose. But it's been loose before and I didn't have this problem.
There is no BIOS setting for the microphone.

Re: Can't turn off microphone
Thanks RBS - muting the microphone in the appropriate playback device fixed it.
