Require T60 LCD repair services

#1 Post by govindbn » Sun Aug 06, 2017 1:04 pm

I have 2 14" T60 laptops and both the screens are not working. I tried swapping the screens but no luck. I enquired here in Singapore and they don't repair this model as it is ~10 years old. Does anyone provide this service in this forum? I can ship the screens to US and will bear the shipping charges.

Thanks,
Badri

What do you mean specifically by "not working"? If the screens are blank, try shining a light at the screen and see if you can make out a faint image. If this is the case, then the inverter is bad. Don't worry about repairing the laptop yourself, it is very easy with the HMM you can find on this site or online.

The screens are just black. I don't see anything when I shine a torch on them. What could be the problem?

Repairing the actual screens is not worth the trouble. Much cheaper to post a WTB on the forum or go on eBay (just do research on sellers) for a new screen. I am not quite sure what else could be the problem based on your symptoms, other than the motherboards being toast, but I would probably start by plugging the laptop into an external monitor to see if anything shows up.

Here in Germany, we buy a low cost, new SXGA+ screen in such a case:

Interestingly, this screen seems to be out of stock anywhere else, but you should be able to find something similar locally.

It was a motherboard issue. First I switched the screens on Laptop B.. so both gave a blank screen. Then I changed the motherboard. So 1 laptop came alive !

Laptop A: Screen broken, motherboard OK
Laptop B: Screen working, motherboard dead
