Mobo 44C3924 CPU compatibility

Can one install a Penryn CPU in a FRU 44C3924 systemboard directly without getting the thermal sense error, or will one have to put in a Merom CPU first, flash the BIOS with Middleton's (possibly having to bring the BIOS up to Lenovo 2.29 first) and Then put in the Penryn CPU?

I don't know that particular number 44C3934, but all 44C39xx are native Penryn-capable.

Your title says 44C3924, but your text says 44C3934, that confused me.

Hello Colonel Mike, These boards are an updated version of the 42w7873 penryn board and are also fully penryn compatible. Also the merom boards like the 42w7649 will boot with a penryn board if you hit escape key when the thermal sensing error displays UNLESS you have a very old bios from early 2007 installed.
