Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
Hello .... it is advisable and easy to update the T61p's last and latest Nvidia FX-570M driver from early 2009 (v6.14.11.7874) to one of the newer Nivida Reference Drivers like the 300 series Quadro drivers, etc. I find on Nivida's web site .... or am I asking for trouble?
Thanks Folks

Re: Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
I've never bothered with "official" Lenovo drivers for these systems, go to nVidia's site, choose what you need and download it. Haven't been there recently since what I've been using for a while (332.76) is working fine and I felt no need to update it.
Obviously, YMMV.

Re: Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
Thanks ajkula66! .... Will give that Nvidia v332.76 a try.
BTW, did you find that uninstalling the old Lenovo Driver first worked better than simply executing the new Nvidia downloaded package over the top of the old current Lenovo driver?

Re: Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
I maintain a different approach so this situation is really not applicable, but the nVidia driver will give you the option of performing a "clean" install and that's what I would go for.

Re: Updating the T61p's Final Lenovo Issued Video Driver Question
I agree with this, 100%. Manufacturer drivers tend to be far more updated than Vendor drivers. Curiously enough, Nvidia's website lists the final FX 570M driver as 10/2016, but I found an 11/2016 driver I can share if anybody wants.ajkula66 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2017 11:35 pmI've never bothered with "official" Lenovo drivers for these systems, go to nVidia's site, choose what you need and download it.
