T61 pink display
T61 pink display
I have a T61 that started the Pink over White display issue months ago and tried replacing display with "a good working one" which after all the work had same issue (paid $35 for that spare Thinkpad) so I tested Graphics on MB by plugging another flat panel Monitor into extra port on side and it worked fine NO pink issue. so I got another Display (top lid complete) off ebay they said was also tested working from a T61, (another $30 for it) after swapping it in it has even worse Pink screen issue. seems like all 3 of these displays must have bad display power boards (ib top/lid with display. if anyone knows of another possibility for this since the extra display port is fine running off same GPU please enlighten me?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Are you sure not mistaken for missing green?
Also tried bright flashlight really close onto pink LCD to see if green is there?
Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Re: T61 pink display
Also, if you have another motherboard available, you can connect any of your displays to it and discard the CCFL worn-out issue by booting your favourite OS and waiting for the Panel to 'light up' from red and giving you any sort of white...

Re: T61 pink display
This guy ruled out this by swapping complete display with lid which means another inverter built in as well.
Try on another motherboard they are not too expensive otherwise look into getting T520 instead?

And all those inverters in the complete lids are also at least 10 years old.
And "tested working" on eBay should be taken with a boatload of salt!

Re: T61 pink display
The display is displaying pink with two different lids on the same motherboard points to a motherboard flaw. Check the LCD connector on the motherboard side or write off the GPU as defective.
Re: T61 pink display
I also tried an new inverter to no avail. but when ext monitor was connected to VGA port it worked fine no pink. so then I connected 3rd display/lid with new inverter tested still had pink for about a minut then display went black and none of the other displays nor ext monitor would light either and fan and HDD only ran a sec each restart before going silent as if never finished startup and only power/battery indicator LEDs stayed lit until hard power down. retried many times but nothing. other post on here said check display fuses but I cant find where they are even much less why they would blow. I now own 2 W500 models one I am using still keeps doing the "display controller failed and was rebooted" or what ever that flash popup window error is and screen freezes, goes dark and resumes at random. very annoying. but also the Wxxx series dont use the PATA connection in ultrabay like Txxx series/T61 do instead using SATA so my swap bay plugins dont work in them and the SATA style dont work in my Advanced dock 2305 bay. also making use of my old adon equipment and WinXP and older apps etc is not possible with the newer models. so I really need to fix my old T61 for use of them and it already has programs installed making moving everything including any saved files in those programs to newer model unlikely. its getting very gloomy now after trying to gather everything (new HDD, ultrabay caddy SATA, 2nd W500 etc) I really need some expert help here on my Thinkpads please.
Thanks! Mitch G
even bought like new case parts to fix any broken ones. I love these laptops have since my 2 701C butterfly keyboard models and all their extras I still own that operate good as always (made in 1994).
what does "no green color" mean? my display had all colors perfect just the bright white areas became bright Pink instead last fall.
